10.5.09 So much to do, so little time
Lots going on here at JRGDS, we are thrilled with the onslought of new clients. Unfortunately they all need something "yesterday". No one is complaining, though. As a result, we are currently looking for a freelance web developer extraordinaire. See our job listing for more details and feel free to send to any interested parties. We would prefer someone local to Southwest Florida, it's our intent to hire the right candidate full-time in the next year.

9.1.09 I Feel Pretty

Every once in a while I get a treat: a client that needs "something pretty". It's not that these pretty projects are my favorite, but they always make me feel so happy. I come away humming My Fair Lady songs and fall in love with grey pastels all over again. Perhaps it's because I live in a house of men — where delicate is unheard of, but these logos have inspired me to go put on a skirt.

8.15.09 Comfort Zone
There is a scene in a very early Sex in the City episode where Carrie is describing her profession to a beautiful but tongue-tied model and he responds, "yeah, I know what you mean, I have all these thoughts but can't get them out on paper." Me too.

Colors, pictures, inane layout details—easy, fun even. It's written words that I struggle with (speaking is fine, perhaps I need a dictaphone). However, no business owner can escape writing, so I find my self out of my comfort zone. Challenged in ways that annoy me.....writing proposals..... feeding my one year old when he can't be bothered. What a nice distraction this has been — ahh back to work......writing.

6.25.09 Ho hum...
So I'm not sure how to start, it does seem quite self-indulgent to ramble on about life, work, technology, etc. with the assumption that someone is going to take time out of their day to read it. Hi Jess! (I'm fairly certain that my sister will, she's my biggest fan and I'm hers).

I did make a phone call to my representative's office today to leave a message in favor of a pending bill. Before I could get through my little schpeel, the very polite receptionist interrupted me to inform me that he would be voting AGAINST said legislation but she would be happy to pass along the message. I've since spent the rest of my afternoon coming up with zingers that no one will ever hear.
